Start with the boring wins
- Unique router admin password; disable remote admin if you don’t need it
- Keep firmware updated on router, NAS, and cameras
- Prefer WPA3/WPA2; isolate guest Wi‑Fi for visitors and sketchy gadgets
Segmentation is kindness
Put IoT on a separate VLAN or guest network when your gear allows it. Your laptop shouldn’t share a blast radius with a bargain camera.
